It seems like only yesterday that Larissa was here on the blog with Still Life in Brunswick Stew, and she will be here in December with Heartache Motel. This is one busy lady and at the rate she is appearing on this blog, I’m gonna have to start giving her billing soon. Hijack in Abstract, the third Cherry Tucker mystery is out today. You are going to want to read it.
BIO
Growing up in a small town, Larissa Reinhart couldn’t wait to move to an exotic city far from corn fields. After moving around the US and Japan, now she loves to write about rough hewn characters who live near corn fields, particularly sassy women with a penchant for trouble.
HIJACK IN ABSTRACT (November 5, 2013) is the third in the Cherry Tucker Mystery Series from Henery Press, following STILL LIFE IN BRUNSWICK STEW (May 2013) and PORTRAIT OF A DEAD GUY, a 2012 Daphne du Maurier finalist. QUICK SKETCH, a Cherry Tucker prequel to PORTRAIT, is in the mystery anthology THE HEARTACHE MOTEL (December 2013). She lives near Atlanta with her minions and Cairn Terrier, Biscuit. BLURB
With a classical series sold and a portrait commissioned, Cherry Tucker’s art career is in Georgia overdrive. But when the sheriff asks Cherry to draw a composite sketch of a hijacker, her life takes a hairpin as the composite leads to a related murder, her local card-sharking buddy Max Avtaikin becomes bear bait, and her nemesis besmirches her classical series.
Cherry’s jamming gears between trailer parks, Atlanta mansions, and trucker bars searching for the hijacker who left a widow and orphan destitute. While she seeks to help the misfortunate and save her local reputation, Cherry’s hammer down attitude has her facing the headlights of an oncoming killer.
Cherry’s back and she’s still bedazzled. Larissa Reinhart started strong with this series and she just keeps getting better. Reading this book was just plain FUN. Cherry is not talking to Todd. Which means she says what she wants then adds, “I’m still not talking to you.” And jobless Todd is living with Cherry along with her brother and sister who fled their Grandfather’s house where Pearl is firmly entrenched. So Cherry’s house/studio is more like a frat house. She and Luke aren’t together and Max is looking more attractive to her. Her classical triptych – aka Greek Todds or naked Todd – has sold and she now has a ‘patron’ but she is horrified by the gaudy room in which it’s displayed. Cherry is called to the police station to draw a suspect from a witness identification and when the witness is killed Cherry adopts his family. There is so much action you will be breathless by the end but it is the characters you will fall in love with even more than the mystery. I can’t wait for the next book in this series. ♥♥♥♥♥
