OPAL FIRE  by Barbra Annino is the first in the Stacy Justice series. This is a fast paced mystery with very engaging characters and a good bit of  humor. And witches. Yes, Stacy is a witch. I seem to be reading a lot of these lately. I know a lot of people don’t like witches, vampires, angels, etc. in their mysteries. But my attitude is, a witch is just as believable to me as a librarian or a real estate agent who finds dead bodies on a regular basis and proceeds to solve the murder. Stacy is a reluctant witch. She would rather just be a reporter at the newspaper her late father started. And her policeman boyfriend is not exactly comfortable with the witch thing. Stacy gets involved in investigating a fire that burns down her cousin Cinnamon’s bar when the fire is determined to be arson and Cinnamon is the suspect. Stacy makes a discovery in the basement of the burned building. But did the fire uncover it or was the fire set to prevent it ever being uncovered? The characters in this book are very well developed and likeable, particularly the three witch aunts, a.k.a. the Geraghty Girls, and Stacy’s great dane/familiar. This book and the second in the series were originally self published but were re-released by publisher Thomas & Mercer along with a third and are all best sellers. Gotta go read the next one now. ♥♥♥♥♥ http://www.amazon.com/Opal-Fire-Stacy-Justice-Mystery/dp/1612186122/ref=ntt_at_ep_dpt_2
